Season after season, American Vintage has become a specialist of flowing materials. Case in point: viscose. Here’s a brief introduction.

Produced from wood cellulose, viscose is probably one of the most versatile materials in the world. For spring-summer 2026, American Vintage launched BOVALOW: its very first range made of 100% viscose with the LENZINGTM ECOVEROTM certification.* A new addition featured on many pieces, and with several prints (including Marthe).

“This certification guarantees that water consumption and carbon emissions are 50% lower compared to traditional viscose, but also that the wood cellulose is sourced from sustainably managed forests. In upcoming seasons, we’d like to receive certification for other ranges too,” explains Charlotte Allègre, CSR Manager for American Vintage.

When the product teams select new materials, the emphasis is on feel, drape and composition, which are considered inseparable. A process that makes it possible to focus on noble materials, while considering the overall finish of the crafted pieces.

Countless qualities

Known for its breathable properties and dubbed “artificial silk”, viscose offers many advantages. Its suppleness makes it easy to wear. However, when it comes to fabric care, some precautions are in order: cold-water delicate wash cycle, air drying and ironing inside-out are recommended to keep this material looking good.
