Partner of the festival for seven years now, American Vintage supports young talents with a dedicated prize. This year, the American Vintage Photography Award went to Senegalese photographer Souleymane Bachir Diaw, whose photos take the form of raw and sincere portraits. He was selected by the photography jury, presided over by Luis Alberto Rodriguez.
“I will continue to explore the idea of sutura. This term refers to an idea of discretion, modesty, respect of privacy and one’s private life. I want to work with textiles, but also other materials, and to approach everything in a sculptural and poetic way.”

In the upcoming year, the artist will produce a fashion series with American Vintage, which will be presented at the next (2024) edition of the Hyères Festival. This year, Chiron Duong, the last winner of the American Vintage Photography Award, presented his series of poetic shots, entitled “Eternal: Time is water flowing through the palm”, at the Villa Noailles.
