For the eighth year in a row, American Vintage partnered with the Hyères International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories. On the programme: the announcement of the American Vintage Photography Award winner.

Partner of the festival for eight years now, American Vintage supports young talents with a dedicated prize. This year, the American Vintage Photography Award went to French photographer Basile Pelletier. He was selected by the photography jury, presided over by Spanish artist Coco Capitán. His ultra-saturated shot seems to tell a story: that of two people who appear in the dead of night, timidly revealing themselves to the viewers.
“I’m extremely happy, of course! This photo was shot at night in a Parisian suburb. It’s kind of my own contemporary interpretation of Adam and Eve. The work with the flash is part of my creative identity: I like to have the impression that I’m revealing things that are not supposed to be seen.”
— Basile Pelletier
Next year, the artist will produce an exclusive fashion series for American Vintage, which will be presented at the 2025 edition of the Hyères Festival. Last year, Souleymane Bachir Diaw walked away with the American Vintage Photography Award. In September, he presented an exhibition together with designer Steven Coëffic, entitled Hier j’ai dansé avec la mer, aujourd’hui aussi (“I danced with the sea, yesterday and today”).
