Summer is a distant memory, almost as far away as winter. However, autumn – often underestimated – is a great season to discover countryside destinations that are off the beaten path!

Périgord

Where to sleep
At the Maison Les Grands Chênes, a family guest house nestled in the heart of the Périgord Noir region. A peaceful corner of paradise in the forest, perfect for getting some fresh air and some (real) R&R.

What to visit
The Lascaux Caves, just seven kilometres away. Bonus: Les Grands Chênes rents electric bikes, making it easy to explore the area.

A walnut tart, a must in the region.

Haute-Savoie

Where to sleep
The Hôtel & Spa Le Mouton Bleu, whose rooms offer an unblocked view of Lake Annecy. In the autumn/winter season, make the most of the relaxation spaces (sauna, jacuzzi) after savouring the breakfast buffet. 

What to visit
Hike up La Tournette, a mountain that stretches 2,350 metres high. You’ll be glad you did when you take in the panoramic view of the French Alps and Lake Annecy at the top!
