Since February 2019, AMV Camp has set off to meet American Vintage collaborators who are redefining the very concept of a “company”. Passionate and driven, they represent its values and help it advance day by day. After project manager Audrey Lankester, we now spend some time with Martina Schmidl, wholesale manager for German-speaking countries.
What’s your daily motivation?
My goal is to make American Vintage an essential brand on the market and to build the best team possible to make this happen. It’s all about finding a balance between emotion and business.
How important are your teams?
Team spirit is the key to success! Everyone in my team has to trust each other so that we can attain our objectives with the right mindset. This involves a lot of daily management: I encourage them and work in the same direction as they do, even if this means making mistakes in order to learn better. I help them grow by themselves.
What makes American Vintage so special?
Our outlook is as fresh, young and flexible as ever, like a start-up, but backed by 16 years of experience! Unlike other brands, we can be ourselves here, because the human aspect is incredibly important in this company. We’re a big family.
AMV Journal is a space dedicated to encounters, discovery and travel. Every week, explore the musts, portraits and inspirations of American Vintage and its creation studio.
