Field hockey player Simon Gougnard’s Sunday look

Belgian-born Simon Gougnard always knew that he wanted to play field hockey, “even though, at first, it was more of a passion than a career.” After joining the Brussels Racing Club in 2009, he entered one championship after the next. So far, he has participated in three Olympic Games, one world championship and one Euro Hockey League cup competition. Between matches, he took a moment to tell us about his favourite weekend outfits.

Hi, Simon! What’s your relationship with clothing?

I play field hockey, so I’m in sportswear all day long. When training is over, it’s a relief to put on something other than my team uniform. It’s a way to get away from it all: I don’t have a lot of occasions to wear nicer things, so when I can, I make the most of it.

What’s your favourite piece of clothing right now?

Right now, I wear the bamboo-coloured PADOW shirt a lot. I’m also a fan of the AZIBEACH jacket in heather grey, which has a bomber cut and keeps me really warm.

What’s a typical Sunday like for you?

Our games are on Sunday! My day off is Saturday. That’s when I go for a walk or take a ride on my motorbike – when the weather is nice enough…

Your favourite Sunday outfit?

I usually get dressed and then change once I get to the locker room: a good pair of jeans, a grey shirt (my winter colour) and a warm jacket!
