Originally from Tuscany, Linda Calugi now lives in Milan. Founder of studio AMORAW, she brings stoneware pieces to life, drawing inspiration from the organic forms of nature—a sensitive approach that gives rise to singular creations. For the 2026 edition of Milan Design Week, she exhibited sculptures, vases, and tableware objects. The exhibition, entitled MIMESIS, was on view at American Vintage’s Milan store—an invitation to rediscover material in its rawest form.

3 questions to the artist

What inspires you?

I love retreating to places where nature is wild. I’m obsessed with the imperfection of stones, uninhabited places, and the delicacy of shells. In my work, I love to mimic this nature, while keeping in mind that it is impossible to fully recreate it.

How would you describe your work?
Wild. I love that word, which connects spontaneity to the very essence of things. What ties all my creations together is the pursuit of form and substance, but also the sincerity of raw materials.

What does your studio represent to you?
AMORAW is a professional rebirth. When my daughter started talking, she would say “ti amoro” instead of “ti amo“. The name came from that, and then I added the notion of “raw” to it.
