Meet our latest campaign photographer: Jonas Unger

German photographer Jonas Unger now lives in Paris, but he returned to his homeland to shoot American Vintage’s autumn/winter 2022-2023 campaign in Berlin. Interview.

Have you always wanted to be a photographer?
I’ve always loved to express myself through a variety of different mediums. In the end, I opted for photography, because it lets me interact with other people, which is what I love. Recently, I’ve been working more and more with video.

How would you define your style?
I create moments and capture sincere emotions. I like to let the models express themselves and be themselves in front of the camera, whether they’re pros or not. In fact, I often choose them for their personality. I take photos that I think people can identify with easily.

What were your goals for the American Vintage autumn/winter 2022-2023 campaign?
I wanted the models to feel safe and free to express themselves. This allowed me to really capture their personality.

How would you describe the campaign in three words?
Joyful, sincere and intimate.

How was the mood at the shoot?
Very relaxed, but productive as well. Everyone was really positive!

What do you like about Berlin?
I like to go out, usually with my friends or my brother. It’s a place where you can just go with the flow, especially at night.
