With the new spring/summer 2022 collection, American Vintage focuses on materials, colours and movement. Céline Jeandaine and Marion Rougerie, the women’s and men’s style managers, talk about their inspirations and the key pieces that stand out this season.
What are the new pieces of the season?
Céline Jeandaine, Women’s Style Manager: “To name a few: a long gingham-check trench coat and its matching bucket hat. A denim dress. A zip-up knit cardigan. And striped pieces for both men and women.”
Marion Rougerie, Men’s Style Manager: “Our new straight-leg 5-pocket jeans, which completes the denim offer. And little zip-up jackets with shirt collars. Not to mention our printed T-shirts and smart sweatshirts with a printed retro-sporty touch.”
Speaking of these pieces, how are you approaching unisex creations this season?
Céline Jeandaine, Women’s Style Manager: “We developed the pieces like workwear. We made the link between men and women through materials such as corduroy, for example.”
Marion Rougerie, Men’s Style Manager: “We always choose our materials in common for women and men. The same material can be treated in different styles in the two collections, like the PADOW corduroy or the DATCITY denim, which have become timeless and genderless basics. On the other hand, sometimes the material combined with a shape creates a unisex look that we love! We don’t give ourselves boundaries.”

Where do you find your inspirations?
Céline Jeandaine and Marion Rougerie Style Managers : “From travelling! What’s new this season is that we went hunting through the warehouses of Marseille and in surrounding second-hand shops. We wanted something comforting, cosy, enveloping. The result is the JUMBOW maxi parka, which we made in Indian pink and glacier blue.”

The AMV teams’ favourite men’s pieces?
Marion Rougerie, Men’s Style Manager: “The CHOPAMY trousers, our new straight-leg chinos with a 100% worker inspiration. We also love the MOVO ensemble. And, because we’re knitwear fans, the PINOBERY jumper in the marshmallow shade for its Italian Mohair yarn and oversized shape.”
The AMV style for summer 2022 in a few words?
Céline Jeandaine and Marion Rougerie, Women’s and Men’s Style Managers: “A sensorial journey. We talk about the ‘senses’ because this was really our approach this season, the points we developed, like wrinkled material. What you feel is as important as what you see.”
