Can you tell us about you?
I am Mireia Ruiz (aka @mireiaysuscosas) and I’m part of the creative studio Cocolia. I am a painting and art lover, and I spend my day doing manual things as I combine it with my profession of graphic designer as well. Working for many hours with the computer provokes me the need of working with the hands, so I dedicate any break I have to relax with the paint brush and the color paints.
Where are you from?
From Barcelona, the best Mediterranean city.

Color lover, funny and meticulous.
Your career path in few words?
Colourist, dynamic and fighter
What are your inspirations?
I like artistic references that are female, colourful and with personality. Like the designer Iris Apfel, the poet Etel Adnan or the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. I need references identified as a creative woman.
Your hobbies?
My main hobby is to find bargains in the street market «Encants de Barcelona”, my favourite place, where I go regularly. It’s located very close to DHUB, Museum of Design of Barcelona. I strongly recommend you to go to both places if you visit Barcelona. I use to go every Saturday to the street market with my mother; there I can find interesting objects, from other periods, second hand or new. Always at a good price if you know how to bargain. I love to train my sight to find the best objects and take then home.
Your last trip?
Thailand in 2016 with a group of 10 friends, two weeks touring the country, from Bangkok to the Kotao Islands. Very exciting!
Your favorite city?
My city, Barcelona, is a Mediterranean city that welcomes talented people, both illustrators and artists. Like Amaia Arrazola, Julia Solans, Marina Capdevila, Chamo San… and design studios like Hey Studio, Ladyssenyadora, Mucho… It is a very active city in events related to design or art, like Blanc Festival, or OFFF Barcelona. It is a good meeting point for everyone.
Your favorite place to get a lunch?
Surf House Barcelona, a good place to get a healthy lunch and near the Barceloneta beach.
An artist who inspires you?
I am inspired by the work of Javier Mariscal, great designer and artist, especially his product design work in the 80’s.
