On the rooftops of Hong Kong

Multi-faceted, the city-state of Hong Kong wavers between age-old traditions and ultra-modernity. Renowned for its many skyscrapers, its exceptional dynamism shines through in a myriad of new open-sky spaces.

Just days away from the 2019 Art Basel in Hong Kong, the famous contemporary art trade show, here’s a summary of the most beautiful rooftops of the city. Excellent and original addresses for an unrestricted view of the city, as far as the eye can see.

Wan Chai neighborhood: Wooloomooloo

As if the Australian and American steaks of the restaurant weren’t enough to build its reputation, curious travelers can also discover an excellent international wine list there… and, (literally) above all, a breathtaking view from the terrace of the fourth property of the Wooloomooloo group. Located on the 31st floor of a building at the heart of the Wan Chai neighborhood, this chic yet rustic setting has become the favorite hangout of businessmen and businesswomen passing through the area. The perfect spot to observe the surroundings and take in the striking expanse of the city.

Central District: Piqniq

The latest creation by Le Comptoir, who are behind the ultra-successful Bilbo, Tri, Écriture and The Ocean (one Michelin star in 2018 with Breton chef Olivier Bellin), Piqniq is undeniably one of the most sought-after places-to-be in the city. Luminous and spacious, it offers comfy pouffes, bench seats and tables for two to observe the busy Central District from on high. Voluntarily designed in the style of a French guinguette (checked tablecloths, loaves of bread charged on a pay-for-what-you-eat basis), nostalgic French tourists will find a superb selection of wine, deli meats and cheese to savor under the stars.

West Kowloon: Ozone

On the 118th floor of a futuristic building, Ozone is one of the highest bars in the world. This intimate space features a precise cocktail menu, several alcoves and a cozy ambience that stands out from other outdoor rooftops. Directly overlooking the bay, the extremely impressive sensation of height is equaled only by the refined and luxuriously understated menu of the House.
